An Indigenous UNBC alumni is being honoured with a prestigous scholarship.
Spencer Greening is currently a PhD candidate at Simon Fraser University, but is a ntaive of Northwestern BC and the holder of a bachelor’s degree in First Nations studies from UNBC.
Greening has been named as one of 15 graduate students across the country to recieve the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Doctoral Scholarship.
The scholarship will help Greening to continue his research in to the inadequate relationships between First Nations and western government.
His research has focused on Tsimshian governance, law, and identity in the past.
Greening is a member of the Gitga’at First Nation.
