The provincial government is making it easier for those suffering from diabetes to manage their illness.
Minister of Health Adrian Dix announced this morning that insulin pumps used by many in the treatment of diabetes will now be covered by Pharmacare.
With the changes set to take effect on July 3rd, BC will become one of only 3 provinces to cover the devices.
Previously, coverage of the pumps was provided, but only up to the age of 25, the new plan will eliminate all restrictions.
Insulin pumps cost on average between 6 and 7 thousand dollars and the government estimates this program will save BC adults suffering from diabetes around 15 million dollars over 3 years.
