Work has begun on 5 new bridges designed to protect against flooding in the Peace Region.
All 5 bridges will be built west of Chetwynd on Highway 97 on route to Prince George.
The bridges will cost just under 27 million to build and are part of a flood mitigation strategy for the region following severe flooding in 2016.
Bowlder Creek, Commotion Creek, Stone Creek, Tippy Corner Creek, and Willow Flats will all see the modern, robust, bridges mostly completed by the end of the fall.
The projects are part of a 76 million dollar investment in northern highway rehabilitation in 2018.
