BC Minister of Transportation Claire Trevena is making her disappointment with the BC Ferries board known.
The minister issued a letter to board chair Donald Hayes regarding the board’s recent cancellation of government approved fuel rebates.
In the letter, Trevena says she believes the cancellations to be contrary to the goal of freezing ferry rates in the province.
She goes on to say the government was looking to negotiate and provide funds to BC Ferries to avoid hikes which the corporation has already moved ahead with.
The rebates, which had been in effect since April 1st, equaled 2.9 percent on major and minor routes, and 1.9 percent on northern routes.
