The Water Quality Advisory issued by the District of Kitimat on May 6th has now been lifted.
The Advisory had originally been issued due to increased turbidity in the Kitimat River, coinciding with a rapid rise in river levels thanks to a quickly progressing spring melt.
The District says once it’s new water treatment plant has become operational, water quality advisories should be less frequent. While no timeline has yet been shared, District staff have said the new plant is approaching it’s commissioning phase.
