Cellphones, landlines, internet and 9-1-1 services are currently interrupted across the northwest, as well as parts of the central coast, lower mainland, and large sections of Alberta, with TELUS is reporting a major widespread outage on their network starting at 3:18am, Monday, May 4th, 2026.
TELUS says repair crews have been dispatched, as of 4:40am, but there is currently no estimated time for services to be restored. At least in the Northwest, the outage is suspected to be the result of a damaged cable.

Most communities on Haida Gwaii, along Highway 16 to from Prince Rupert to Burns Lake, throughout the Nass valley, as well as Stewart, Klemtu and Bella Bella are affected at this time.
With 9-1-1 services affected, Provincial authorities have said you still still attempt to call 9-1-1 in for help in case of an emergency, but if you are not able to get through, they suggest you seek out help directly at your local RCMP detachment or Health Centre.
