Construction on a 12-unit seniors housing project in Granisle is progressing, with completion expected by August 2025. The Copperview Seniors Housing complex is set to offer affordable housing options for local seniors, helping to free up other properties for younger families. The project, spearheaded by the Granisle and District Senior Citizens Association, includes units designed for aging in place, with features like adaptable layouts, reinforced bathroom walls for grab bars, and space for mobility aids. Two units will be wheelchair accessible. The project, which began construction in 2024, is supported by $5.2 million in funding from BC Housing, $1 million from the federal government, and a land donation from the Village of Granisle. This development is seen as a key step in Granisle’s efforts to position itself as a retirement community and provide long-term housing solutions for its aging population.
