The BC Wildfire Service is conducting a prescribed burn northeast of the Westridge Subdivision, near Country Club Boulevard in Williams Lake. The burn, planned for Thursday and Friday this week, covers approximately 20 hectares. Firefighters are working alongside the City of Williams Lake and Williams Lake First Nation to carry out the operation.
Today, crews are creating a “blackline” by pre-burning small areas of fuel along the burn’s perimeter to strengthen containment lines. As a result, smoke will be visible from several areas, including the Tolko Industry Lakeview Mill log yard, Williams Lake Golf & Tennis Club, and the Westridge Subdivision.
The burn is expected to remain visible through the weekend, with firefighting personnel monitoring the site. For more details, visit the City of Williams Lake website or the BC Wildfire Service blog.
