Community members and groups helped to raise more than $1.6 million at the Kitimat General Hospital Foundation’s annual gala last month.
Those funds will go towards the Foundation’s 20 active initiatives, focusing on equipment, facility upgrades, and support for health care workers.
Just days before the gala, Northern Health announced their commitment to bring new CT scanning equipment to Kitimat under their Imaging Strategy.
That prompted the Max Lange Foundation to donate $500,000 towards the purchase of a scanner, followed by LNG Canada donating the remaining $900,000 necessary,
Each of their donations came with the caveat that the scanner be installed and operating at Kitimat General within 18 months of receiving the funds.
Members of the public also donated to a number of the Foundation’s initiatives, which you can learn more about at this link.
