Evacuation orders are back on for some residents of the North Peace, after a hot and dry weekend added fuel to the Province’s largest wildfire.
Orders prompted by the Donnie Creek fire in the Tommy Lakes area had been downgraded to alerts amid favourable weather last week.
But, that didn’t last long after the poor weekend conditions prompted the blaze to expand to nearly 158,000 kilometres, east of Highway 97.
In addition, the Klua Lakes fire, which is part of the same complex, is now covering nearly 30,000 hectares just to the North.
Combined, they have prompted evacuation orders to be re-issued for most of the area north of Beatton and south of the Fort Nelson River.
An alert remains in place for residents north of Pink Mountain and south of the order area.
