We now know just how much each community will receive from the Province’s new Growing Communities Fund.
Announced last month, that fund will provide a one-time total of $1 billion to be split between all 188 communities and regional districts in BC.
That funding is intended to help communities expand and improve local infrastructure to support their unique needs and future growth.
Each community will receive $500,000 plus an adjustment based on population size and per-capita growth between 2016 and 2021.
In the Northwest, Terrace will see $4.6 million, Prince Rupert gets $4 million, Kitimat will see just under $3 million, and Smithers gets $2.3 million.
Another $2 million will go to the Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine, while the North Coast Regional District gets just over $1 million.
