A set of newly installed hospital beds will help improve comfort, accessibility, and safety at two Prince Rupert-based health care facilities.
Installed at the Prince Rupert Regional Hospital and Acropolis Manor, the 61 new beds come with a suite of features to better accommodate patients.
Improved controls will make lowering the beds safer and more efficient, and allow them to raise to comfortable heights for health care workers.
They also require only a single locking mechanism to hold them in place, where the previous beds required 4 separate locks to secure them.
Replacement of the beds was made possible thanks to a partnership between the Prince Rupert Port Authority and North Coast Health Improvement Society.
In total, the replacement project cost $300,000, with half of that coming from the PRPA’s Community Investment Fund.
