Members of the BC Assembly of First Nations are calling for Canada to take more action to end violence against women, and increase police accountability.
Their calls come as the world gets ready to launch the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence campaign tomorrow.
In honour of the annual campaign, the Assembly is advocating for a transformed relationship between Indigenous peoples, and colonial policing and legal institutions.
In doing so, the government would be answering some of the Calls to Justice in the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls Final Report.
The 16 Days of Activism campaign kicks off each year on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, on November 25th.
