Two communities in the northwest will be getting new electric vehicle charging stations, as the province looks to help drivers make the shift from fossil fuels.
As part of their plan to make 90 percent of all new vehicles sold in BC electric by 2030, the province has announced 44 new charging stations.
Two of those will be located along Highway 16, outside the Kasiks Wilderness Resort, and will be operated by the Kitsumkalum Band.
Highway 16 will get two more stations, just east of Terrace, at the gas station at the intersection with Old Lakelse Lake Drive.
Kitimat will also get a pair of stations at the Shell Gas Station behind the Red Cross on Lahakas Boulevard.
All of the stations coming to the northwest are fast charging stations, capable of providing up to 300 kms on a 30 minute charge.
