Fresh funding is on the way to help the City of Terrace to mitigate damages related to an on-going landslide near McConnell Crescent.
An initial landslide near the Kitsumkalum escarpment in 2017 has led to continued severe bank erosion, leading to an increase in the frequency and size of landslides.
In July, the City was forced to declare a local state of emergency in order to facilitate the evacuation of one property on McConnell.
Now, Emergency Management BC has decided to allocate just under $2.5 million to the City to deal with the issue.
A remediation strategy is now being developed as the City works with consultants on a final plan, permitting, and costing.
