Three weeks after their water treatment plant broke down, the District of Hudson’s Hope has issued a do not consume order over their drinking water.
Late last month, the District issued an initial boil water notice, after uncovering a failure in the plant’s filtration system.
According to those living near the plant, the issues have been going on for over a year, leading to a sulfur-like scent in the area.
While the order is a precautionary measure to allow more time to repair the plant, the District says it could last up to three weeks.
In the meantime, residents can get free potable water at the Community Hall on Kyllo Street Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 2:00 to 8:00 in the evening.
