Determination and two sets of tires were not enough for a wanted man to escape from police in Quesnel on Canada Day.
Quesnel RCMP first spotted the 33 year-old man, wanted on outstanding warrants, driving in the Bouchie Lake area, and attempted a traffic stop.
After the man refused to stop and fled in his vehicle, prompting police to deploy a spike strip to disable the vehicle.
But, the man abandoned the vehicle to flee on foot, and was able to make it to the home of an associate, as well as a second vehicle.
Teaming up with Highway Patrol crews, police deployed a second spike belt, again disabling the suspect’s vehicle.
Not to be deterred, the man then fled on foot in to a nearby wooded area, leading officers to call on a police dog to help apprehend him.
Eventually, crews were able to arrest the suspect, who is now facing his original charges, alongside newly recommended charges.
