An investigation has been launched to determine whether or not RCMP actions played a role in the death of a Williams Lake man this weekend.
At roughly 3:40 yesterday morning, RCMP received a report that a man, in possession of a weapon, was contemplating self-harm.
When they arrived on scene, police established a perimeter around the residence, while a negotiator attempted to contact the man.
Just after noon, a group from the North District Emergency Response Team entered the home and located a deceased man with apparent self-inflicted wounds, and a weapon nearby.
BC’s Independent Investigations Office has since been notified of the incident, and will look in to whether or not police actions played a role in the outcome.
