Babine Lake Road is not expected to reopen near Smithers until July 16th, after a washout from last weekend.
That washout created a hole roughly 100 wide wide, and knocked out access at the 30 km mark, near the intersection with Highway 16.
Crews are on-site performing geotechnical investigations, and building a temporary bridge while a permanent solution is determined.
A detour is marked by signs along the road, asking drivers to take the Granisle Connector at the 45 km mark, continue to Highway 118 in Granisle, then to Highway 16 in Topley.
Meanwhile, single-lane traffic is still in effect on Highway 97, along the Liard River, northwest of the hotsprings, due to another washout.
A lengthy detour is also in place there, asking drivers headed west to take Highway 97 back to Highway 16, then to Highway 37, and those headed east to use Highway 37.
