Back on Monday, Telus announced that they were investing $10 million into bringing high speed internet and proper cell service to the Haida Gwaii area.
This investment comes after Telus was able to complete their upgrades of the internet speed for the businesses and residents in Skidegate and Daajing Giids in June.
Telus realized the need for these upgrades during the pandemic and decided to develop their Indigenous Reconciliation Action Plan, a plan that aims to bring high speed internet to at least 20 Indigenous communities in BC by 2023.
CityWest also made an announcement of the same nature on the same day, when they let it be known that they were done laying their fibre-optic cables in Haida Gwaii.
Back in May, Telus also announced that they would investing a total of $17.5 billion towards network infrastructure, operations, and spectrum in BC for the next 4 years with the goal of bringing high speed internet to the entire Province.
