A new survey suggests that affordable housing is now at the top of the concern list for 39 percent of BC residents.
With the steady rise in housing prices, and local elections set to take place this fall, residents are looking to their local governments for solutions.
77 percent of residents are supportive of allowing public property to be used for projects like non-profit and co-op housing.
Along with affordability, residents are also looking for diversity of housing options, with 68 percent wanting to ensure the needs of indigenous people being met.
The survey also found 67 percent of residents were in favour of waiving the costs involved with the development of affordable housing projects.
