A heat warning issued by Environment Canada yesterday covering the Terrace and Kitimat areas has been maintained for today.
Temperatures are expected to cap out at 32 degrees during the day today, with forecasted rain for tomorrow helping to cool things down.
Meanwhile, a heat-related special weather statement also remains in place in the Cariboo, Bulkley Valley and Lakes, and Central Coast.
While the warning is in place, residents should drink plenty of water, avoid alcohol, salty snacks, and strenuous activities, and remain indoors as much as possible.
Residents should also prepare a heat plan by identifying cooler areas inside and out, private and public, and knowing ways to cool down, such as taking cold showers.
With temperatures this high, there is also an increased risk for heat related illnesses, and residents should identify vulnerable family members and neighbouts.
Elderly residents, those with chronic physical or mental illnesses, substance abusers, pregnant women, and children are all more at risk.
Symptoms of heat-related illnesses include: heavy sweating, muscle cramps, exhaustion, headaches, swelling, rashes, and more.
