$25 million is being sent the way of the Forest Enhancement Society of BC via the Provincial Government.
These funds will help the society further support projects that will look to reduce the risk of wildfires breaking out in communities where the risk of that is high, as well as attempt to improve wildlife habitats and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Anyone who wishes to get support from the society can apply for funding starting on June 20th.
So far, the FESBC has supported 263 projects in the province, 43 of which have seen them partner with First Nations and they have resulted in 2,200 full-time-equivalent jobs being created and the risk of wildfires being reduced in 120 communities.
The $25 million is only a small part of the $359 million that is meant to help protect BC from the threat of wildfires, which was announced as a part of Budget 2022.
