A hit and run which took place last weekend during a Residential School March in Mission has the First Nations Leadership Council deeply concerned.
Reports from witnesses say the driver issued racist remarks, insults, and threats, before driving through the demonstration, hitting four.
They also say that their efforts to report their experiences to RCMP have been rejected, despite a call for public information.
This, and other factors surrounding the incident, such as poor traffic plans, has the Council concerned for the safety of those partaking in peaceful demonstrations.
Now that the driver has turned himself in to authorities, the Council is calling for the RCMP to uphold the law and conduct a full investigation in to the incident.
