A new pilot project will bring stricter animal control enforcement to sections of the Kitimat-Stikine.
Launched by the Regional District, the project will cover the District’s Area “C”, including North Terrace, Old and New Remo, Lakelse Lake, and the Jackpine Flats.
With plans to run for one year, the project aims to increase enforcement efforts around dangerous dogs who pose a threat to humans, livestock, or other pets.
Funding for the project will come reserves, with residents voting on whether or not to maintain the program using taxes upon its completion.
A Dangerous Dog Policy for Area “C”, which began development in January is expected to be released later this year.
