New provincial funding will help children and youth in and coming from government care to participate in sports, and physical and cultural activities.
A total of $3.6 million is being invested in the RISE Program, which stands for Resilience, Inspire, Strength, and Engage.
Through the funding, the province aims to provide financial support to 350 children and youth per year over the next 5 years.
Grants of up to $1,000 will be awarded to cover costs of registration, equipment, and travel for eligible activities.
In addition to sports, the grants will also cover cultural programming, such as traditional dance and art, as well as hiking, canoeing, and more.
Grants of up to $10,000 will also be available for organizations to develop and deliver programs that fit the criteria.
Funding will be delivered by the Indigenous Sport, Physical Activity and Recreation Council (ISPARC), in partnership with the province.
