A lot of large and small scale debris created by the mass floodings in November was recently removed from BC rivers that were major parts of the floods by trained teams, First Nations and Local Communities.
This work comes as part of a major debris removal plan created by the province to find and then remove debris from eight large BC river systems.
So far, in part thanks to helicopter drones and GPS imaging as well as crowd-sourced reporting, about 75 percent of the project’s 1st phase debris has been cleared which includes 4 bridges, 11 buildings and 72 vehicles.
Crews are still working on finding and removing debris for the second phase of the plan after the heavy rain and melting snow season ends.
