Residents of Bouchie Lake opposed to the Cariboo Regional District’s new fire truck financing plan have until July 5th to let them know.
In order to meet certification standards, the Bouchie Lake Volunteer Fire Department will need to acquire a new truck this year.
In an effort to spread out costs and allow the Department to build savings, the District has proposed a 10-year financing period.
However, local governments are required to obtain approval from eligible electors in the community to enter in to financing arrangements longer than 5 years.
To acquire this approval, the District will be holding an Alternate Approval Process through the afternoon of July 5th.
Those in support of the plan need not respond, but those opposed can follow this link to the response form.
The District will be going ahead with the plan unless they receive negative responses from at least 10 percent of eligible voters.
