The province of BC has announced that they are putting a $5 million investment forward into the British Columbia Schizophrenia Society.
The main reason for this investment is because the province is looking to help out those living with serious mental illnesses and provide them with services to make sure that they can live their best life.
The organization in question that is getting this investment, the BCSS, is not for profit and has created a system that provides programs and services to those suffering from psychosis, schizophrenia and other mental ailments.
This funding will be mainly used to allow for families in underserved or rural communities to get access to the society’s services easier while the society also hopes to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health by expanding their mental-health literacy programming.
Enhancing these services has been touted as a major part of BC’s Pathway to Hope, a plan that looks to make sure that all BC residents get the mental health care they deserve.
