A black liquor vapour exposure at a Quesnel mill yesterday afternoon sent four to hospital as a precaution.
At around 8:00 yesterday morning, four contractors at West Fraser’s Cariboo Pulp and Paper Mill were exposed to the vapour during routine operations.
After reporting minor eye irritation and respiratory issues, the group were sent to first-aid, before ultimately being transported to hospital.
RCMP, EHS, and fire crews all responded to the site, but say the incident was under control.
Emergency procedures and protections systems were activated immediately, cutting off the exposed area, and preventing further spread.
An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the exposure.
