As many as 14,000 rural households in BC will benefit from improved internet access, thanks to $108 million in joint Federal and Provincial funding.
Dozens of rural and First Nations communities across the north will receive high-speed internet access through the investment.
That investment is part of an existing $830 million agreement between Canada and BC, which aims to connect all British Columbians with high-speed internet.
In addition, 7 communities, including 5 in the north, will benefit from improved mobile connectivity.
Those communities include: the Nisga’a Villages of Gitwinksihlkw, Laxgalts’ap, Gitlaxt’aamiks and Gingolx, as well as the Nass Camp.
You can find updates on the progress of each project at this link.
Canada aims to provide high-speed access to all British Columbians by 2030, while the province aims to do so by 2027.
