Pope Francis will make stops in Edmonton, Quebec City, and Iqaluit during a visit to Canada at the end of July.
Coordinators for the visit say the Pope’s limited mobility prevents him from being able to make more stops during the trip.
Plans are for the Pope to touch down in Canada on July 24th, and depart on the 29th, with a specific itinerary being released six to eight weeks before the trip.
Representatives expect the Pope to issue a second apology for the Catholic Church’s role in the Residential School system during the visit.
He gave an initial apology in April when an Indigenous delegation visited him in Rome, but Indigenous groups are looking forward to a more meaningful apology on Canadian soil.
