Six communities will split $1.3 million in fresh grant funding from the Northern Development Initiative Trust.
$300,000 will go towards the construction and expansion of the new Kitasoo Brand Store in Klemtu, increasing its size from 5,500 to 8,000 square feet.
Another $300,000 will go to the Williams Lake First Nation’s Osprey Nest building, which will feature four guest lofts, two patios, a restaurant, and a gathering space.
Houston will see $200,000 to help with their 10th Street Revitalization Program.
Chetwynd will also see $200,000 for their Downtown Revitalization Program, upgrading sidewalks, bike lanes, and lighting.
Chetwynd will also benefit from just over $160,000 for the revitalization of the Pine Valley Exhibition Park.
Just under $200,000 will also go to the Village of McBride to install 30 ornamental street lights along Main Street.
