Two new parcels of land have been added to Kitamaat Reserve No. 2 on Haisla Nation territory.
In total, the parcels will add just over 297 acres of land to the reserve through a transfer which was originally requested in 1949.
Formerly under the jurisdiction of the province, the land transfer was made possible thanks to an Incremental Treaty Agreement between the two parties.
Haisla Nation leadership will now seek input from their members to help decide the future use of the land.
