Two projects have been selected to split $100,000 through the College of New Caledonia Research Forest Society’s Legacy Fund.
Since 2019, the College has provided support for projects within their communities which focus on improving and promoting the environment.
One of this year’s recipients, the Nazko First Nation, will see the funding support the continuation of their native plant reclamation and habitat restoration project.
That project will see them replant culturally significant plantlife lost during 2017 devastating wildfire season.
Funding will also go to the Fraser Headwaters Alliance to continue their work upgrading the 68 km Goat River Trail, which stretches from the Fraser River to Bowron Lake Provincial Park.
