Birds Canada is looking for bird watchers… and listeners in the Prince George area.
They are looking to conduct the first population count of the long-billed curlew in nearly two decades.
As the largest shorebird in North America, their beaks can grow up to 20 cms long, more than earning their name.
Volunteers interested in helping with the count will be assigned a 25 km stretch of road with stops every 800 metres.
Counters will need to listen and watch for birds for 5 minutes at each stop and mark down each one.
To volunteer, you can call Birds Canada at 1 877 349 2473, or visit this link.
