BC’s Environmental Assessment Office has issued a non-compliance order against the controversial Site C Hydroelectric Dam.
According to the Office, the order follows an inspection from August, which found them in violation of Condition #3 of their Certificate.
That condition requires the project to appropriately manage impacts on water from acid-generating materials disturbed during construction.
Issued on April 21st, the order requires them to: limit the amount of time potentially acid-generating materials are exposed to air and water, confine such material to natural materials to minimize leachate, and capture and treat exposed exposed surface run-off.
