As they prepare to kick off Child Care Month, the province is celebrating a related milestone.
BC has now funded 30,500 new child care spaces since they launched their ChildCareBC program in 2018.
That includes 3,587 new spaces spread among 77 child care sites added province-wide during the latest round of the New Spaces Fund.
That includes 27 new spaces coming to the Haisla Youth Centre in Kitimat, and 61 to a Métis Nation lead facility coming to Fort St John.
Funding for the New Spaces Fund is split, with the province providing $84 million, and Ottawa providing a further $35 million.
Since the launch of ChildCareBC, the province has invested more than $2.7 billion.
