Coast Funds has released their 2021 annual report, highlighting First Nations leadership on renewable energy, conservation, and economic development on the Northcoast.
Over the course of the year, the Fund helped Nations document long-term stewardship visions, and develop fundraising strategies to support sustainable revenue.
In total, they approved $1.9 million in funding for 12 stewardship and conservation programs, and $1.6 million spread across 8 economic development initiatives.
They were able to work with partners toward the creation of new marine protected areas linking the coastlines in the Great Bear Rainforest, and on Haida Gwaii.
In 2021, Coast Funds team members made contributions to 5 reports, and 3 webinars, on conservation finance, watershed funding, and asset management.
