Earlier today, a group of Provincial Politicians suggested to BC that they create their own Police force and do away with the RCMP.
This suggestion was a part of the Transforming Policing and Community Safety in British Columbia report done by the Special Committee on Reforming the Police Act.
In total, the report made 11 recommendations that the act believes would improve Police work and create more accountability in BC.
Some of the other recommendations include Indigenous communities being allowed to give input into their Police forces as well as for Police to collect Race based data in order to get rid of the systemic racism in policing.
