An increase in overdose events in the Prince George area have led both Northern Health and the First Nations Health Authority to issue a toxic drug alert.
Reportedly being sold as dope, the substance in question takes the form of light green pebbles or chunks that break into granules, and as a dark blue rocky substance.
Overdoses are occurring when smoked or injected, and are preceded by heavy or prolonged sedation.
Users are being advised not to consume alone, get training in and carry naloxone kits, start slow with small amounts, and do not mix drugs and alcohol.
The alert will remain in place until at least May 6th.
