Category 2 and 3 Fires to be Banned in Terrace Beginning Tomorrow Afternoon

Category two and three open fires will be banned until future notice in Terrace, beginning at noon tomorrow.

Category two fires are one or two pile burns smaller than two metres high and 3 metres wide, or stubble or grass fires smaller than 0.2 hectares.

Category three fires are those which are larger than two metres high by three metres wide, and stubble or grass fires larger than 0.2 hectares.

Relative humidity levels, strong winds, low precipitation, and a warming periods in the forecast are to blame for the ban.

Small campfires, cooking fire pits, and sky lanterns are not covered under the restrictions.
