After receiving a winter weather wake-up yesterday, the Northwest is set to calm down today.
It’s a different story for the Northeast, however, as they look to winter storm and snowfall warnings.
In the Peace Region and Fort Nelson areas, up to 20 cms of snow is expected, and visibility on the roads is expected to be low.
Lower Post could see as much as 30 cms of snowfall in the late afternoon and evening as well.
On the roads, heavy snowfall is expected on the Pine Pass on Highway 97 and north, expecting to make conditions difficult there.
A travel advisory is in place between McLeod Lake and Chetwynd, due to black ice accumulating on snow.
Highway 37A is closed between the Pearly Gates east of Stewart, and the Surprise Pullout west of Meziadin.
That closure is due to increased avalanche risks and control work in the area, and no detour is currently available.
