An Indigenous delegation which was initially set to meet with the Pope in Vatican City last month has now been rescheduled.
According to a joint statement released yesterday, the delegation of 30 will now land in Rome on March 28th, and stay through April 1st.
Delegates will include Indigenous leaders, Elders, knowledge keepers, Residential School survivors, and youth.
During the visit, the delegates hope to press Pope Francis to make an official apology for the part the Catholic Church played in Canada’s Residential School tragedy.
They also plan to work out the details of a future trip to Canada by the Pope, which was also announced, but not scheduled, last year.
