The recent formation of a new Indigenous led committee has been hailed a big milestone in the quest to implement reconciliation calls to action.
The Minister of Crown-Indigenous Relations, Marc Miller, made an announcement stating that an Indigenous led Transitional Committee has been created in order to help create a National Council for Reconciliation.
The hope is that once this council is officially put together, the members of said council will be able to help implement all the calls to action from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s last report.
The new committee will begin the process of forming this council by talking with multiple different groups as well as provinces and territories on how the legislative framework will be decided and they will also be working on giving some suggestions to Minister Miller.
