A lot of fishers are very happy with an announcement yesterday, regarding a fishing practice meant to preserve prawn.
Joyce Murray, the Minister of Fisheries, Oceans, and the Canadian Coast Guard, let it be known yesterday that the practice of freezing prawn in ocean water while at sea, which is called tubbing, is now allowed once again after the practice was made illegal last year.
This ruling has resulted in BC’s many prawn fishers being overjoyed with the fact that their jobs have been made a bit easier.
However, there are a couple of limits to this practice, as only 710 millimeters of prawn will be allowed in packaging and all packaging material is required to be transparent.
