Gidim’ten land defenders say they are preparing for further RCMP action at the Coyote Camp.
They also say they are not there to be arrested in a series of posts over the past few days, sent out over their “Gidimt’en Checkpoint” account.
That same account issued a statement late last month saying the group had retaken the Camp, which was the site of an RCMP injunction enforcement in November.
That enforcement saw nearly 30 arrested at two sites on Wet’suwet’en territory as the land defenders set up a blockade to uphold an eviction notice issued by their Hereditary Chiefs.
Meanwhile, in a release from yesterday, Coastal GasLink, says the site had been cleared for workers to return to work, with no other details.
CGL are building their 650 km pipeline in the area, which the land defenders are blocking, saying they do not have permission to do so.
CGL has permission from all elected Nation councils along the pipeline’s route, but not of the Wet’suwet’en Hereditary Chiefs who oppose the pipeline.
