The Gottfriedson Indian Residential Schools Day Scholars settlement agreement for Survivor and Descendant Classes is officially going to be implemented today.
The agreement in question will be giving out $10,000 to every eligible person who attended Residential Schools as a day scholar, which means that the people in question could return home after the school day was done.
This settlement will also have $50 million dollars being put towards the Day Scholars Revitalization Society, an Indigenous-led non-profit organization that will support healing, wellness, education, language, culture, heritage and commemoration activities for both the Survivor and the Descendant classes.
