It was a white Christmas, and it’s going to be an even more snow-filled New Years, according to Environment Canada.
Winter storm warnings are in place across the North and Central Coasts, including both inland and coastal sections.
For areas like Terrace, Kitimat, Stewart, and Prince Rupert, that means up to 50 cms of snow could be on the way the next three days.
Northern coastal sections may warm enough for the snow to turn to rain, but with an arctic outflow warning in place, that isn’t the case on the inland.
For inland sections, including Terrace, Kitimat, Bella Coola, and more, winds may gust as high as 90 km/h, with windchill values approaching -30.
Both Lower Post, and Highway 97’s Pine Pass are projecting around 20 cm of snowfall, and the Peace gets an extreme cold warning with temperatures hitting -40.
Roads will be slippery and slick this weekend, and visibility is likely to be limited.
