A pair of evacuation alerts which had been in place in areas around the Bulkley River this past week has now been rescinded.
An ice jam on the river had been restricting its flow, causing it to exceed bankfall on Christmas day.
In response, both the Town of Smithers and Regional District of Bulkley Nechako issued evacuation alerts.
They had covered the Ebenezer Flats area, the Fairgrounds, and parts of Main Street and Riverside Drive.
Both have now seen fit the rescind their orders, though a Hazard Warning remains in place, covering all low-lying areas around the Bulkley River.
The situation remains dynamic and conditions are constantly shifting, so residents should remain prepared for possible flooding.
